Diabetes: What You Should Know
Published in Paperback by Blackwell Science Inc (15 October, 2001)
Authors: Douglas L. Wetherill, Dean J., Md Kereiakes, and Laura L. Seeley
Average review score:

Finally, diabetes makes sense.
Diabetes is a complicated disease. I know. I have it, and I've tried to explain it to people (no, I didn't get it from eating too much sugar). This book gives an easy-to-understand explanation about diabetes and its treatment--and the illustrations are great. I'm giving copies to my friends.

Diagnostic Ultrastructure of Non-Neoplastic Diseases
Published in Hardcover by Churchill Livingstone (August, 1992)
Authors: John M. Papdimitriou, Douglas Henderson, and Dominic Spagnolo
Average review score:

An essential guide for all diagnostic electron microscopists
I have used this book for over 3 years now and find it an invaluable aid in recognising diagnostic features in the Non-Neoplastic diseases. I feel that one of the most important features of this volume is the use of human case studies. Other volumes tend to show results from animal studies which often may or may not show similar features in human diseases. The textual information is comprehensive and relevant and the lists of references is of great use for further reading. I would recommend this work as an essential volume for any diagnostic EM laboratory.

Digimon Cards!: Collector's and Player's Guide
Published in Paperback by Sandwich Islands Pub (01 June, 2000)
Authors: J. Douglas Arnold, James Yamada, Mark Elies, and Donovan Praigg
Average review score:

Digimon TCG Book
For Digimon fan(atics) like me, this book is very helpful. Not so much for the "let's see if I got this card" kind of thing. It's more of a pictorial reference for me. Plus, if you just want to "have" the cards without spending too much money, they're all right here. A peek at the new cards is in the back, including Season 2 Digimon. In all honesty, this book is already outdated because all new sets are out. If you're looking for quick picture reference, this is the book for you.

Editor's Choice: "A Masterful Vision of Publishing"
Holleley's new book Digital Book Design & Publishing is a masterful vision that brings together all the elements of the new digital technologies into a resource for photographers, artists, authors, historians, teachers and anyone who would like to see their information made into a single document.

This book will appeal to a wide community of readers -- not just the desktop publisher or publications designer. Aside from its essential information of publishing in a digital age, it also celebrates the book as a medium which will always portray the very best of the minds of people. Whether your book becomes a mass produced best seller, or a hand-made, one-of-a-kind art treasure Holleley's Digital Book will help you make it happen.

Educators:

I also feel strongly this is an important book for educators. College and University level graphic design, printing, publishing and even journalism curricula planners should seriously consider integrating this book into their plan. As a university instructor myself, I can see this as an important part of any visual art and literary foundation program. It will arm those freshmen with a superior breadth of understanding in preparation for the higher level courses.

Dinosaur Ghosts: The Mystery of Coelophysis
Published in Hardcover by Dial Books for Young Readers (April, 1997)
Authors: J. Lynett Gillette, Doug Henderson, and Douglas Henderson
Average review score:

Visually stunning! A must have for dinosaur lovers.
Gillette and Henderson have produced a brilliant introduction to the scientific process of understanding fossil remains and what they tell us about life (and death) in the Age of Dinosaurs. Gillette's text cleverly leads the reader on a journey of discovery and hypothesis ably elucidated by Douglas Henderson's inspired illustrations - So gorgeously rendered are these illustrations that the Ceolophysis seem to move...

The Disciple's Journal
Published in Spiral-bound by Narrow Road Publishing (10 May, 1996)
Authors: Douglas Morrell and Jon D. Smith
Average review score:

A great book for growing in faith and understanding!
This devotional has been a great tool for me in my faith growth. I like the fact that each week is a chance to reflect on a particular lesson (rather than only one day of reflection, like many other devotionals). Due to this format, I found myself drawing deeper conclusions and understanding from the scripture than I ever had in the past. As a teenager I found it very worthwhile, but feel it is appropriate for any age.

The Discipline of Surrender: Biblical Images of Discipleship
Published in Paperback by Intervarsity Press (February, 2001)
Author: Douglas D. Webster
Average review score:

Surrender to the One who can change you life . . .
What a gentle and humble book! Not to be confused with icons, Biblical images are simple, everyday items that can - if we are striving to find God's glory in all His creation - lead us to a deeper understanding of His power, majesty, and glory! Douglas Webster kindly reminds us that we are without excuse. God has illustrated His will and truth with the mundane - Biblical images like the Unadorned Alter; the Lamb of God; the Thorn in the Flesh; the Towel and Basin; the Empty Tomb; and others. Unlike other books that promote Christian "success," Webster gently points us - through these timeless images - to what a Christian's true calling is . . . "take up your cross and follow Me."

The Discipline of Teams
Published in Digital by Harvard Business School Press (28 June, 2003)
Authors: Jon R. Katzenbach and Douglas K. Smith
Average review score:

Introduction into the discipline of successful teamwork
Jon R. Katzenbach and Douglas K. Smith are partners at McKinsey & Co., the famous management-consulting firm. This article was published in the March-April 1993 issue of the Harvard Business Review.

The authors report on their research into teamwork, in particular "to discover what differentiates various levels of team performance, where and how teams work best, and what top management can do to enhance their effectiveness." Katzenbach and Smith define "a team as a small number of people, with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, set of performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable." They discuss all the elements within this definition in detail. The authors then continue to classify teams in three ways: First, teams that recommend things, second, teams that make or do things, and, third, teams that run things. Each type of team face a characteristic set of challenges. The authors also believe that teams will become the primary unit of performance in high-performance organizations and that these teams will enhance existing structures without actually replacing them. The article is complemented with a useful short summary on approaches that are shared by many successful teams.

In this article the authors discuss teams, which they believe is a basic discipline. By discussing all the different elements of this discipline Katzenbach and Smith provide great insights and tools for better teamwork. The authors have written several good books on teamwork. Recommended to leaders, managers, team members, and MBA-students. The authors use simple US-English.
